Ways We Can Be Kind To Others

Smile. Smile to a stranger. Not a creepy, weird smile, just a pleasant, “how’s it going?’” smile. Suggested places to smile: in an elevator,

on your way in/out of a store, at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.

Merge. Let “that guy” merge in front of you in traffic. Getting home 8 feet later doesn’t matter.

Hold. Hold the door for someone. Anyone. Let them go in first.

Respect. Treat everyone with the respect you want them to give you.

Don’t Be A Hater. If you have something negative to say, then say it in a tactful way and own your opinions.

Don’t write someone off just for disagreeing with you. Listen to and learn the other side.

Encourage. Encourage someone. Find a way to tell someone they did something good.

Even that annoying co-worker who constantly complains.

Be Charitable. Give money, or more importantly, time to a cause you care about.

Deal with it. Don’t be a jerk when things don’t go your way at work or at home. Take a breath and deal with it. Put it in perspective. Gone are your childish ways.

Buy. Buy coffee/food for the person behind you in the drive through. Anonymously. Don’t expect a thank you. That’s not why you’re doing it.

Write. Write someone a note. Not an email. A note, on paper, that you have to mail. You’ll be blown away by the impact it will have.

Expect Nothing In Return. There is so much pressure on people these days but don't let anyone take advantage.

Make Polite Gestures. Courteous gestures and actions go a long way in showing others that you are polite and care about them.

Be Giving and Sharing.  Offering others small and thoughtful gifts is one way show your kindness.

Show Affection. In some way that is appropriate to that person.

I've experienced Christians who fail to be thankful, almost as if things are expected of us

rather than appreciation given. Learn to express your Thanks - especially when it comes

to God - don't just take for granted and be surprised that He didn't answer your prayers.

More Ways To Be Kind

Be Punctual

Being punctual for an appointment is one important way to be a nicer person. It demonstrates to the other person that you have respect for his or her time. It shows that you have discipline, are responsible, trustworthy, and that you keep your word. Nobody likes to be kept waiting by a tardy person and, therefore, we should not do it to others.


Don’t Be Critical

One of the ways to become a nicer person is to be less judgemental and critical of others and certain situations. Always try to look at the brighter side of things and refrain from criticism and voicing displeasure. There will always be situations and people that are less than ideal in our minds, but it does no good to constantly criticize

because it only reinforces negativity. Think of their good qualities.


Smile and Laugh

Frequent smiling and laughing makes you a more pleasant person to be around. I am talking about genuine, heart-felt smiling and laughing.

It demonstrates optimism, happiness, and an overall pleasantness that is contagious.


Don’t Talk About Yourself As Much

We all love the sound of our own voice, but that does not mean we should indulge in self-glorification and monopolizing a conversation. After all, true communication is a dialogue and not a monologue. It is perfectly alright to tell others about our lives, feelings and accomplishments in order to let others get to truly know and understand us. However, too many people do this excessively.


Write Personal or Thank You Notes/Emails/Texts

This step goes a long way in helping you become a nicer person and ingratiating others. Write thank you notes, cards, letters, emails, texts and online messages

as often as possible. If you visit someone’s home for dinner, write that person a thank you message or note. It will not go unnoticed.


Make Time For Others

The most precious commodity you can give others is time. Everyone in this world, rich or poor, has been given 24 hours in a day. Therefore, affording others some of your valuable time is one of the greatest gifts you can give. Making the time to enjoy a meal with a friend or helping them in some way. teaching a person a new skill will go

a long way in showing others that you truly care about them.


Pay Compliments

Learning to pay others sincere compliments is a great way to be a nicer person. Everyone has qualities and accomplishments that deserve to be recognized. Having the ability to offer genuine praise when it is deserved makes the other person feel great about themselves. It exhibits the ability to see goodness in others and makes others want to be around you more.



Compliments is my favorite - I love to make someone feel nice or beautiful or interesting.

And I love to give free smiles away every day!


Scripture says to be Kind to One-another. In simple terms there is no better way

to show the Light of God's Love to those around us in daily life.

The more consistency the better our results.
